Okee so we discussed the predicament of how to raise money without people feeling creeped out that we might just be stealing from them. Something similar to Team in Training (TNT) like my mom and I raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
I shall look oh so much more into it, but just wanted to let you know I have two websites (links if you click the titles) in mind:
1. Team Compassion
This site looks REALLY good, like Compassion has already figured out a way to be like TNT and for whatever event you feel like doing. The only thing that I'm even considering as a slight negative is the money goes to The Medical Assistance Fund only. Of course I think this is great and really important, I just wanted to look into a "world hunger" approach also...but this is really awesome!
2. FirstGiving
This site is great too where you can customize the event and donation recipient. I like this because the money goes to Compassion as opposed to just the one fund; however, I would have to contact them to see really where the funds would be going.
So, yeah! Lots of contacting still to do, but I just thought this was cool and I would share!

The First Step
Welcome to the blog of TroutManMoose! It's like ManBearPig...only real, and more awesome!
So I'm just really excited after our talk yesterday about making Operation "Thru-Hike the AT" official! I started rereading Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods" and I just wanted to start this so we could track our progress.
Current thoughts:
So I'm just really excited after our talk yesterday about making Operation "Thru-Hike the AT" official! I started rereading Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods" and I just wanted to start this so we could track our progress.
Current thoughts:
- Probable start date: August hiking southbound from Maine to Georgia
- Contacting Compassion International and getting that started
- Equipment needs
- Physical preparation
So far (in the glorious two days that have been Lent), I have stuck to my Lenten addition of 2 miles a day. Haha woop woop! Thanks, Heather, for all your enthusiasm, support, and most of all patience! You're the best and I can't wait to take this journey together and see what happens!
